Senior fitness: It’s both physical and social

Did you know that as we age we tend to slow down and become more sedentary? Maybe it stems from health problems, weight or pain issues. Maybe you are concerned about falling. But as a person grows older being active physically and mentally becomes more important than ever for one’s overall health. Physical exercise boosts energy, helps maintain independence, and may assist in relieving chronic aches and pains. Physical activity also improves mobility, flexibility and balance. Another huge benefit of regular exercise is that it improves mood, helps with cognitive function, relieves stress and may slow the progression of brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s.
